Interdisciplinary research on circular value creation

Technische Hochschule Köln / Process Facilitation, Moderation, Project Management / 2021-2022

The Situation:
Dedicated employees at TH Köln are in the process of founding an interdisciplinary research cluster called “Circular Value Creation.” During an initial symposium in autumn 2010, 50 expert professors from 10 different faculties participated, activities were consolidated, and a temporary working structure was established. The founding process is planned to take place over the following year, with goals to involve more stakeholders, further develop the research cluster’s structure, support the steering committee and working groups in achieving their objectives, and integrate the various elements.

Our Contribution:
As a process facilitator and moderator, Maren supported both the founding process and the first year of the CTLC (Circular Transformation Lab Cologne). She facilitated work meetings, assisted with project management, designed and moderated cross-working group (AG) workshops where concepts were collaboratively developed, and guided decision-making processes.

Why We Enjoyed Working with the CTLC:
Many of the major challenges facing society can only be addressed by going beyond disciplinary boundaries. That’s why it was so valuable for us to support an interdisciplinary structure where individuals from different work contexts come together to collaborate. Additionally, the value-driven approach of the people involved was evident in many small interactions, making the collaboration not only engaging and productive but also pleasant and inspiring.
