The situation

Fana folkehøgskule is a Norwegian boarding school for young adults, known for its strong focus on experiential learning, community, and sustainability. Ahead of a new school year, the school welcomed new team members while also wanting to strengthen alignment and collaboration across the staff.
With a diverse team and a strong values-based mission, the leadership wanted to create a shared foundation for how the team would work together—moving beyond plans and structures to cultivate a regenerative, relational way of collaborating throughout the year.

My contribution

I was invited to work with the team for a full day, with the purpose of supporting onboarding, strengthening alignment, and nurturing regenerative thinking in practice.
Rather than relying on theory, we worked through stories, reflection, and metaphor. Using the image of fertile soil, we explored how past experiences can compost into learning, how strong teamwork needs healthy roots, and how timing and care influence what can grow.
The workshop alternated between individual reflection and collective sense-making, helping participants see how each person’s way of showing up directly shapes both team outcomes and the quality of collaboration. Together, we envisioned the school’s success as a living garden—and clarified the unique role each team member plays in tending it.
Most importantly, the team agreed to continue these conversations throughout the school year, embedding shared reflection and alignment into their everyday work.

Why I enjoyed this job

This assignment stood out because of the openness, curiosity, and commitment of the team at Fana folkehøgskule. Their willingness to engage deeply, reflect honestly, and work with metaphor and meaning created a powerful learning space.
It was a privilege to support an organization that lives its values so clearly—both in how it educates students and how it invests in its people. I left inspired by their work and genuinely excited to follow their journey and continue the collaboration.
